A favorite local event has come around again, the Holiday Art Show at my local comic shop, Carol & John’s. I’ve been contributing to the show for a few years, and my kids have contributed their art as well! Each piece of art is raffled off and proceeds go to The Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

Parody of a mister miracle comic book shows the hero and big barda flying over Cleveland’s FREE STAMP art installation drawn in a Jack Kirby tribute style.

Cover text reads:

My son and I contributed covers on their “Superheroes in Cleveland” theme. It’s wonderful to give him an opportunity to generate funds for charity with something he creates himself and this year, his cover project turned into time together as a major Procreate tutorial. I made two covers, one Mister Miracle to appeal to the comic book die-hards, and another is a ploy to get those elementary & middle school families buying raffle tickets. Six-sevennnnnnn.

Each cover is raffled off individually, you can stop by the shop to see the art or you can call in and bid in any cover – you just need the corresponding number and a credit card. (My son’s X-Men cover is #5, mine are #6 and, appropriately, #67.)

X-men parody cover shows the x-men battling King Kong on Cleveland’s terminal tower, due to the “menace of big chuck snd lil’ john

It really is a wonderful event with pros, amateurs, art students and kids all contributing, and proceeds have raised thousands for the Cleveland Food Bank.

Here's the covers from the Holiday Art Show (in two seperate posts) posted quickley just so people can remotely call in ticket orders tomorrow between 10am and 7pm. You can call 216-252-0606, have a credit card ready along with the numbers of the covers that you'd like the tickets to go to. (Credit card only for payment please.) The Art Show survived the pandemic for two years largely in part to remote ticket sales collected in this manner. (We actually had our best year ever at the time by doing this.) We always intended the event to be in person but we also don't want to leave any charity money on the table. The quality of these pictures is awful because we needed to photograph them in their frames to get the proper number with them. Post event we'll post clean high Rez photos of everyone's amazing work! So call us tomorrow and we'll help you help us to help the Greater Cleveland Food Bank!

I wrote about the show and their efforts last year.

The 2024 Art Show created 26,151 meals for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank (the previous record was 18,888 meals).

Carol and John’s comics gives an oversized check to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.
